As we know that Vitamin C is one of the good ingredients to achieve healthy good looking skin. Even tho we can find vitamin C in many different types of fruits and veggies, by applying topically can provide one of the most effective ways to boost collagen and slow its degradation. Especially as we grow older, our skin needs nutrients to increase collagen production. This does not mean that Vitamin C is only for the older women who already have a wrinkle. You can start at a young age as possible because Vitamin C can supports healthy collagen to work hand-in-hand with elastin so they can provide the improvement of the skin elasticity to prevent wrinkle.
The first vitamin C that I had tried is by Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 21.5 Advanced Serum. It is a very lightweight serum with a hint of citrus scent but very subtle. It is formulated with only 10 ingredients with no paraben, fragrance and other harmful ingredients. This contains Hippophae Rhamnoides Water, Ascorbic Acid, Panthenol and Allantoin. All these properties together fight the hyperpigmentation, discolouration and acne scarring. Unfortunately, my skin mislikes this. I woke up with bumps all around my cheeks and eyebrow area. On the other night, I put less amount than before but still got some bumps in the morning which chafed me. So, I was halted since that but I did not throw the product away thought I can use it elsewhere such as the back of my neck and my knee. A few days after I stored the bottle on my skincare shelf, it has oxidized from clear to pale yellow. Well, I could say that was probably my fault because I store it close to the window which is exposed to the sun. Yes, pure vitamin C is easily destabilized by light and oxygen and the best way to store them is inside the fridge.
After a couple of months, I wanted to give another chance with another brand and Klairs has caught my attention with their vitamin C serum. Dear, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum. Yes, I finally wrote it perfectly after made some mistake. This came with a clear plastic bottle, whereas the Wishtrend one came with a glass bottle which more confident to be held. Same with the Wishtrend, Klairs also with the dropper to dispense the liquid.
It has been 4 months using this product and I have a completely different experience with this one. This has 5% concentration which gentle enough if you new to Vit C and have a longer shelf life. Moreover, this product compact with numerous botanical extract for extra soothing and nourishing. So far I did not have any reaction on my skin and I incorporate this both night and day without an issue.
After 4 months enough of using this serum deliberately, I don’t see any improvement in regards to brighten or smooth out skin texture but I am not surprised by how gentle the consistency it has. Again, if I have to choose one of them I probably would recommend the Klairs one, but for somehow I adore by how great the 21.5 by Wishtrend as its concentration and how simple the ingredients are. I wish my skin loves this or should I grab more to test it for the second time?
Anyway, my experience with these two Vitamin C serums do not upset me despite the result is zero. I definitely will explore more Vitamin C out there. Paula’s Choice C15 Super Booster and Drunk Elephant C firms are on my wishlist. Please share your experience if you have tried them.
